Life changing adventures

"After the voyage I felt I had really achieved something.  It was nice to know we worked well together as a team of people who got to know each other really well.  We learnt to work together and listen to each other.  It was a once in a life-time experience".  Joseph from Rutland

Full members of ASTO are entitled to receive a Hammond Innes Bursary annually, assuming all paperwork has been submitted on time. Associate members may apply for a Bursary at the Board’'s discretion, on a year by year basis. Honorary members are not eligible for Hammond Innes Bursaries.

The Hammond Innes Bursary is to be used to:

  • Provide funding for young people, aged 25 or under, or people with special needs of any age, to take part in a Sail Training voyage.
  • Offset the costs of training volunteers and staff.

As the name implies this Bursary is paid for by the very generous legacy left by Ralph Hammond Innes, a great supporter of Sail Training.
